The program aims to improve programs and services and to inform policy designed to reduce the harm caused by tobacco. TCRE is funded primarily by the South Australian Government. The role of the Tobacco Control Research and Evaluation program is to: 1. Undertake monitoring of progress in tobacco control indicators at the population level. 2. Formulate and conduct applied research to inform the development of tobacco control strategies and programs. 3. Design and implement evaluations of specific tobacco control strategies or programs. 4. Provide strategic advice to the Ministerial Reference Group on Tobacco, the SA Government and agencies in tobacco control on:

6. Ensure methodological and conceptual rigour by seeking peer review of evaluation studies and disseminating results.
